Specialized Containers for Sale
When a standard box won't do the job, these will. Our specialized containers cover flat racks for oversized cargo, bunded hazardous-goods stores, DNV offshore-rated units and multistore configurations. Sixteen units in stock, priced from $1,500 to $16,800, each built for a specific demanding use.
Specialized containers for non-standard loads
Most cargo fits a dry box, but plenty doesn't. Oversized machinery, drums of flammable chemicals, gear bound for an offshore rig — each needs a container engineered around the problem. This category pulls together the units that aren't your everyday 20ft or 40ft: flat racks with collapsible ends, bunded stores with a sealed sump, offshore-certified boxes and compartmented multistores.
What's in this category
- Flat racks (20ft & 40ft): open sides and collapsible ends for wide or heavy loads that won't fit through doors
- Bunded hazardous-goods stores: integral sump to contain leaks of oil, fuel or chemicals, in 9ft and 20ft sizes
- DNV offshore-rated units: certified lifting frames built to survive crane handling at sea
- Multistores: 40ft units partitioned into separate lockable compartments
- Compact 13ft units for tight or unusual footprints
Choosing the right specialized unit
Start with the load. Storing flammables or anything that can leak? A bunded store keeps you compliant and protects the ground beneath it. Moving a transformer or boat that's too wide for a door opening? A flat rack lets you load from the top or side with a crane. Sending equipment to a rig? Only a DNV-rated unit clears the lifting requirements. Prices run $1,500 to $16,800 across the range, reflecting how different these builds are.
Compliance and certification matter here
Specialized units exist largely because of rules, not just convenience. A bunded hazardous-goods store is often what keeps you within EPA and fire-code requirements for storing fuel or chemicals on site — the sealed sump is sized to catch a percentage of what's stored above it. DNV offshore-rated units carry certified lifting points and frames inspected to survive being craned on and off a rig or vessel; a standard box simply isn't rated for that handling. If your application is regulated, buy the certified unit from the start rather than trying to retrofit a dry box, because the paperwork and build standards can't be added after the fact. Tell us the exact use when you call and we'll match you to a unit that actually clears your requirement.
Flat racks also live in our flat pack units, and if you need a box altered rather than purpose-built, the modified containers page covers doors, windows and partitions. For exact frame dimensions and door openings, see the container dimensions reference. Not sure which unit fits your job? Request a quote and tell us the load — flat $500 delivery applies nationwide.
