Modified Containers for Sale
Modified containers take a standard steel box and turn it into something useful. We carry units fitted with roll-up doors, glass windows, lighting, shelving, anti-condensation paint and full conversions for offices, gyms, workshops and bars. Built to order and delivered nationwide for a flat $500.
Modified Shipping Containers Built for the Job
A modification turns a plain cargo box into a working space. Our modified containers range from simple upgrades, like a 20ft high cube fitted with a roll-up door for easy access, to full conversions such as a 20ft office gym or a side-door bar build. Most start life as a one-trip or cargo-worthy unit, so the steel underneath is sound before any cutting, welding or fit-out begins.
Pricing runs from around $1,500 for light modifications up to $18,500 for fully kitted conversions, which reflects how much work goes into each build. Anti-condensation paint, 12V or mains lighting, timber or steel shelving, and personnel side doors are common additions on the units we stock.
Popular Modifications We Stock
- Roll-up doors on the side or end for forklift and vehicle access
- Glass windows and personnel doors for offices and showrooms
- Anti-condensation coating to stop interior "container rain"
- Internal shelving and racking for workshops and parts stores
- Triple roll-up side doors on 40ft units for open-front display or retail
Because every modification removes or reroutes structural steel, we keep door framing reinforced and weather seals intact so the box stays wind and water tight after the work is done. Cam-locking doors are retained or upgraded for security, and we can match exterior paint to your branding. If you have a layout in mind that isn't on the shelf, send us the spec and we'll quote a custom build, whether that's a market kiosk, a tool store with bench and shelving, or a glazed showroom front.
Choosing the Right Base Container
Think about access first. A roll-up door suits frequent loading; a personnel door plus window suits a manned office or workshop. High cube bases give you the extra foot of headroom that makes a fitted-out interior feel far less cramped, and a 40ft shell gives room to split storage from a working area. One-trip bases give the cleanest steel for paint and glazing, while a sound cargo-worthy unit keeps the budget down on a workshop or store. Lead times depend on the build, so it pays to order early when a deadline is fixed.
For a deeper dive on which base unit to start from, read our buyers guide or compare exact sizes on the container dimensions page. If you want a turnkey workspace, our container home office range is already fitted out and ready to use. Questions on a specific build?
