This 20-foot open side shipping container is a secure, accessible solution for storage or transport. As a "one-trip" unit it has carried just a single delivery from the point of manufacture. Alongside standard rear doors, it adds full-length side doors for versatile loading and unloading, and its corrosion-resistant steel build is made to withstand harsh weather and protect contents.
Key Features
- One-trip condition: Only one voyage completed, leaving minimal wear and a like-new structure.
- Dual-access design: Standard rear doors plus a full-length opening side for flexible logistics.
- Weather-resistant build: Corten steel with water-sealed doors helps keep the interior wind and watertight.
- Secure locking: Rear and side doors carry lockable handles sized for standard shipping container locks.
- Forklift pockets: Built-in base pockets ease handling and positioning of the empty container.
- Ventilated design: Top-mounted vents promote airflow and cut moisture buildup inside.
The 20ft Open Side Shipping Container is engineered to improve efficiency where end-door-only access falls short. Its full-width side doors open to give unobstructed lateral reach along the entire interior length, which is especially handy for items that are hard to maneuver through rear doors, such as long lumber, pipes, industrial machinery, or bulk materials.
As a one-trip unit, it offers new-container structural integrity at a more accessible price. Used for a single international shipment, it has avoided the cumulative wear of many voyages or years in service, and its condition includes fully functional doors, a sound floor, and intact corner castings. Built to ISO standards, it is suitable for intermodal transport and stackable when properly loaded. The heavy-gauge steel frame and corrugated walls provide inherent strength, and whether used for on-site storage, secure job-site containment, or a modular build, the side-door feature cuts the time and effort needed to reach stored goods.

The container suits commercial and industrial work where side access helps. It is ideal for material storage of long goods like steel beams, piping, or dimensional lumber on construction sites; for logistics and distribution, speeding the loading and unloading of palletized goods in tight spaces where rear access is restricted; for modular conversion into a mobile retail space, event kiosk, or job-site office, with the side doors serving as a counter or display opening; and for equipment housing such as generators or pumps, allowing easy side maintenance access.

Full-Length Access From a 20ft Open Side Container
The case for a 20ft open side container is simple: you can reach any item without moving the three in front of it. Standard end doors force you to load a container like a stack of plates, first in and last out. Open the entire side wall instead and a forklift can place or pull a pallet anywhere along the run, which changes the box from long-term storage into a working store you use every day.
As a one-trip unit, it has carried a single load from the factory, so the panels are straight, the paint is clean, and the side-door gear has not been fought with by a decade of dock workers.

Where a Side Door Shipping Container Pays for Itself
Any operation that opens the doors several times a day gets the value back quickly in time saved.
- Builders merchants and yards picking stock without unloading the whole box
- Storing long material like pipe, lumber, and steel that will not turn through an end door
- Machinery and equipment that must be loaded sideways rather than driven in
- Conversion projects — bars, kiosks, and display units built around the open side
- Emergency and event stores where fast access to everything matters
Placement, Clearance, and Ordering Notes
Placement planning differs from a standard container. The side doors need their full swing arc kept clear, so do not park the unit tight against a wall, fence, or another container on the door side, and leave room for a forklift to work along that face. As with any 20 ft drop, allow the container length plus roughly 40 ft of straight clearance and about 15 ft overhead, on a level pad under all four corners. Delivery is a flat $500 to all 50 states, scheduled once your order is confirmed and the route is quoted. Frequently Asked Questions
Is an open side container as strong as a standard one?
The side-opening design uses a reinforced frame and header to carry loads that the fixed side wall would normally help with, and the unit still stacks and lifts through its corner castings. It is heavier than a standard 20 ft box as a result. Keep the doors properly latched in transit, since the locking gear is part of the structure.
Does it stay watertight with doors on two faces?
Yes. The side doors seal on gaskets in the same way the end doors do, provided the container sits level so the frame is not twisted. Check the seals annually and keep the drainage channels clear of leaves and grit, which is the usual cause of a leak on any container with multiple door sets.
Can I add shelving or a roll-up door later?
You can, though the side opening already covers most of the access needs a roll-up would solve. Shelving is best fitted to the fixed wall and the ends so the side-door swing stays clear.
