This 20-foot high cube shipping container delivers a secure, weather-resistant storage or transport solution for commercial, industrial, and agricultural use. It adds one extra foot of vertical room over a standard container and comes with a rear rollup door for convenient ground-level access. Built from weathering-resistant COR-TEN steel, it is designed to stand up to harsh conditions while protecting its contents, and works well as onsite storage, a mobile workshop, or for the secure shipment of goods.

Key Features

  • High Cube Design: Adds roughly one foot of interior height (9'6" externally) over a standard 20ft container, making room for taller equipment or extra shelving.
  • Rollup Door for Easy Access: Rear rollup door running on spring-assisted tracks for full-width access and easier ground-level loading of palletized or bulky items.
  • Durable Weather-Resistant Construction: Weathering COR-TEN steel forms a rigid, waterproof structure that resists corrosion and rust over time.
  • Secure Locking Mechanism: Welded-on locking hardware on the rollup door accepts customer-supplied padlocks to deter unauthorized access.
  • Ventilated Design: Passive vents built into the structure cut condensation and promote airflow to guard against moisture buildup.
  • CSC Plate Compliant: Manufactured to International Convention for Safe Containers (CSC) requirements, certifying it safe for transport and handling.

The 20ft High Cube (HC) Shipping Container with Rollup Door is a specialized cargo container that bridges secure storage and the need for frequent, easy access. Unlike traditional swing doors that need clearance to open outward, the corrugated sliding rollup door retracts into a box above the opening, making the unit ideal for tight spaces or for drive-in access with a forklift or pallet jack.

Built to last, the frame and panels use heavy-gauge weathering steel that develops a protective patina to resist atmospheric corrosion, making the container suitable for long-term outdoor placement across many US climates. The flooring is marine-grade plywood treated to take heavy point loads from forklifts or stored machinery.

Inside, the high cube design provides ample vertical clearance for taller machinery, racking systems, or bulkier items that would not fit in a standard container. Combined with the full-width rollup door, this makes the unit a versatile asset for job sites needing a secure yet accessible tool shed, or for warehouse expansion requiring durable, modular storage. All structural components, including the door tracks and bottom rails, are built to ISO standards so the container stays stackable and transportable when needed.

A 20ft High Cube Container With Roll Up Door for Faster Access

Swing doors are fine until you use them ten times a day. A 20ft high cube container with roll up door replaces that routine with a single spring-assisted shutter that lifts clear of the opening, giving you full-width ground-level access without swinging two heavy leaves into the space in front of the box. If the container is a working store rather than a sealed one, this is the modification that pays for itself fastest.

The high cube profile adds close to a foot of interior height over a standard 20, which matters twice here: taller shelving inside, and a shutter opening you are not stooping through. Built from weathering COR-TEN steel with vents to manage condensation, it is set up as a practical everyday store rather than a freight box.

Jobs That Suit a Modified Roll Up Door Storage Container

Frequent access is the theme. Anywhere people are in and out of the container all day, a shutter beats a pair of cargo doors.

  • Tool cribs and consumables stores where crews draw stock hourly
  • Self-storage bays and rental units needing quick, tidy access
  • Landscaping, snow, and grounds equipment rolled in and out daily
  • Event, market, and concession storage set up and struck repeatedly
  • Workshop annexes where the open shutter doubles as a work bay

Living With a Shutter Door, and Getting the Unit Delivered

Two things to plan for. First, clearance: a roll-up needs space above the opening inside the container, so the top few inches of the doorway are taken by the housing — measure before assuming a tall item will clear. Second, maintenance: keep the tracks clean and the springs serviced, and do not force a shutter that binds, since a twisted, unlevel container is usually the reason it sticks.

Delivery needs roughly 60 feet of straight approach and about 15 feet of overhead clearance, with the four corners set level. For a longer unit with the same style of access, see the 40ft roll-up container with lighting and electrics. Other converted units are listed in our modified container range, alongside the high cube category and every 20-foot container we stock. Practical placement advice is covered in the buyer's guide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is a roll-up door as secure as cargo doors?

Standard swing doors with multi-point locking rods are the more secure arrangement, since a shutter has a simpler locking point. A roll-up on a container is still steel and still padlockable, and most owners accept the trade for daily convenience. If you can, site the door facing a building or fence and add a shrouded padlock.

Does the shutter seal against weather?

It keeps rain out well in normal conditions but does not compress against a gasket the way cargo doors do, so it is not sealed to the same standard. Keep the tracks clear, make sure the container sits level so the shutter closes flush, and store moisture-sensitive goods away from the door end of the unit.

Can the shutter be repaired if it is damaged?

Roll-up doors are serviceable components: springs, tracks, and slats can generally be repaired or replaced by a door technician without touching the container structure. The usual causes of damage are forcing a binding shutter and impact from equipment. Setting the container level and keeping the tracks clean prevents most problems before they start.
